Today’s car of the day is this ’71 Corvette Stingray that Jimmie Johnson helped modify, and I saw it at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. It’s from the C3 generation, which was made between 1968 and 1982. This one was modified to have a 6.2 liter LT1 V8, which produces 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 6-speed manual.
Today’s car of the day is this ’77 Pontiac Trans Am that was at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. This is from the second generation of the Pontiac Firebird, which was made between 1970 and 1981. The engine of this one is a 6.6 liter V8 that produces 220 horsepower and 321 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 4-speed manual.

The engine is a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 that produces 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. This car weighs 4,279 pounds since the chassis is unitary steel. This car does 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds. I’m not sure what the true top speed is because one source says that it’s 207 mph, and another says it’s 168 mph. This Demon was auctioned off for $143,000.

This is from the fourth phase of the first generation, which was made between 1970 and 1973 (model years between 1971 and 1973). The engine is a 5.8 liter Cleveland V8 that produces 266 horsepower and 301 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 4-speed manual. This Mustang was auctioned off for $17,050.
