Today’s car of the day is this ’59 Chevy Impala that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. It’s from the second generation, which was made between 1958 and 1960 (model years between 1959 and 1960). The engine is a 5.7 liter V8 that produces 320 horsepower. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. It was driven by Junior Johnson, and it won the 1960 Daytona 500.
Today’s car of the day is Rick Mast’s ’95 Skoal Bandit Ford Thunderbird, and I saw it at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. It’s based on the tenth generation of the Thunderbird, which was made between October of 1988 and September of 1997 (model years between 1989 and 1997). The engine is 5.9 liter Ford Racing V8 that produces 730 horsepower. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. This Thunderbird was auctioned off for $14,300.

This is based on the sixth generation, which was made between 1999 and 2005 (model years between 2000 and 2005). The engine is a 5.7 liter V8 that produces 750 horsepower. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. The Monte Carlo was auctioned off for $165,000.

The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is a GT race car that was made to take the Ferrari 250 GTO. Only six were produced, and one of them was a prototype. The engine is a 4.7 liter V8 that produces 390 horsepower and 341 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. This car does 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 191 mph. This car weighs 2,299 pounds since the body panels are aluminum, and the chassis is a steel tubular frame.
