Car of the Day 12/6/18

Today’s car of the day is this 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. It’s from the third generation of the Dodge Challenger, which has been in production since 2008. The Demon was unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show, and even made it’s film debut in The Fate of the Furious. Tim Kuniskus is the man behind the project, and he presented the car while the song “Fuel” by Metallica was being played. The engine is a 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi V8 that produces 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. This car weighs 4,279 pounds since the chassis is unitary steel. This car does 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds. I’m not sure what the true top speed is because one source says that it’s 207 mph, and another says it’s 168 mph. A total of 3,300 were built. 3,000 were sold in America, and the remaining 300 were sold in Canada.

Today’s car of the day is this Mustang Mach 1 that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. This is from the second phase of the fourth generation, which was made between 1999 and 2004. The Mach 1 was introduced at the 2002 New York Auto Show and was made between 2003 and 2004. The engine is a 4.6 liter Modular V8 that produces 305 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 5-speed manual, but it can also come with a 4-speed automatic. This car does 0-60 mph in 5 seconds and has a top speed of 156 mph. It can also run the quarter mile in 13.88 seconds at 101.9 mph. This car weighs 3,465 pounds since the chassis is unitary steel. A total of 7,182 of the Mach 1 were made, and this is one of the 814 that came in Oxford white.

Today’s car of the day is this 2019 Shelby GT350 that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. This is from the sixth generation of the Mustang, which has been in production since July of 2014 (the first model year was 2015). The engine is a 5.2 liter V8 that produces 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual. This car can do 0-60 mph in about 4 seconds and tops out at about 180 mph.

Today’s car of the day is this ’69 Dodge Coronet Super Bee that was at this year’s Daytona Turkey Rod Run. It’s from the fifth generation of the Coronet, which was made between 1965 and 1970. The engine of this one is the 440 Magnum, which is a 7.2 liter V8 that produces 375 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 3-speed automatic.

Today’s car of the day is this ’68 Mercury Cyclone that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. The Mercury Cyclone is a car that was built on the same platform as the Ford Torino. The engine of this one is a 7 liter V8, but I’m not sure how powerful it is. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. It was made as a tribute to Bud Moore and Tiny Lund, and it’s owned by Rich Moore.

Today’s car of the day is this Chevy Camaro SS that was modified to look like a Pontiac Trans Am, and I saw it at the 2013 Daytona Spring Show. This is from the fifth generation, which was made between March of 2009 and November of 2015 (model years between 2010 and 2015). The engine is the LS3, which is a 6.2 liter V8 that produces 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 6-speed automatic.

Today’s car of the day is this Corvette Z06 that was at the 2013 Daytona Spring Show. It’s from the C6 series, which was made between June of 2004 and February of 2013. The Z06 was made between 2005 and 2013 (model years between 2006 and 2013), and was unveiled at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The engine is the LS7, which is a 7 liter V8 that produces 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual. This car does 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 197 mph. This car weighs 3,130 pounds since the chassis is made of aluminum, and the body panels are carbon fiber and composite.
