Today’s car of the day is this 2019 Mustang Bullitt Prototype that was at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. It’s from the sixth generation, which has been in production since July of 2014 (the first model year was 2015). The Bullitt was at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, and Molly McQueen (Steve McQueen’s granddaughter) presented it. This variant is being made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Steve McQueen film Bullitt. The engine is a 5 liter Coyote V8 that produces 480 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual. This car weighs 3,709 pounds since the chassis is unitary steel. The top speed is 163 mph. The starting price is $47,495.

Today’s car of the day is this 2018 Dodge Charger Scat Pack that was at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. It’s a high performance version of the Charger, but not as fast or as powerful as the Hellcat. The engine is a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 that produces 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic.

Car of the Day 5/2/18

Today’s car of the day is this 2017 BMW i8 that was at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach. The i8 is a hybrid sports car from BMW. The concept model for the i8 was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany back in 2011 and was featured in the movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The car didn’t go into production until 2014. The engine is a 1.5 liter turbocharged straight-3 with a lithium ion battery that produce a total of 357 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic, and it’s one of those transmissions where the driver can change gears with either the clutch or the paddle shifters. This car can do 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and tops out at 155 mph. The starting price of the i8 is $147,500.

Cars of the Day 4/24/18

Today’s car of the day is this Maserati 3500 GT Touring Berlina that I saw at Ferrari of Tampa Bay in December of 2017. The Maserati 3500 GT is a sports car that was made between 1957 and 1964. The engine is a 3.5 liter Tipo 101 straight-6 that produces 256 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. This car does 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 137 mph.

Car of the Day for 4/21/18

Today’s car of the day is this ’93 Toyota Supra 15th Anniversary Edition, and I saw it at Cars and Coffee in December of 2017. The Toyota Supra is a sports car that was made between 1978 and 2002. This is Mark IV (A80), which was made between April 1993 and August of 2002. The engine is the 2JZ-GTE, which is a 3 liter twin turbo straight-6 that produces 320 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual. This car does 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.
