This is a 2013 Corvette ZR1 that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. It’s from the C6 series, which was made between June of 2004 and February of 2013 (model years between 2005 and 2013). The engine is the LSA, which is a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 that produces 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque. The transmission of this one is a 6-speed automatic. This car does 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 191 mph.
Today’s car of the day is this 2017 Maserati Ghibli Q4 that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. This is from the third generation (M157), which has been in production since 2013. The engine is a 3 liter twin turbo V6 that produces 424 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 8-speed automatic. This car does 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 178 mph.
This afternoon, I saw this 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante in Clearwater. The Lamborghini Huracan is a supercar that’s been in production since 2014, and was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. The Huracan is also the car that replaced the aging Gallardo. The Performante was unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The engine is a 5.2 liter V10 that produces 630 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 7-speed ISR. This car does 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 202 mph. This car weighs 3,047 pounds since the body panels are aluminum and composite, and the chassis is an aluminum and carbon fiber spaceframe. This car managed to go around the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 52.01 seconds. The starting price of the Huracan Performante is $274,390.
Today’s car of the day is this 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. It’s from the third generation of the Dodge Challenger, which has been in production since 2008. The Demon was unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show, and even made it’s film debut in The Fate of the Furious. Tim Kuniskus is the man behind the project, and he presented the car while the song “Fuel” by Metallica was being played. The engine is a 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi V8 that produces 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. This car weighs 4,279 pounds since the chassis is unitary steel. This car does 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds. I’m not sure what the true top speed is because one source says that it’s 207 mph, and another says it’s 168 mph. A total of 3,300 were built. 3,000 were sold in America, and the remaining 300 were sold in Canada.
Today’s car of the day is this 2019 Shelby GT350 that was at the 2018 Daytona Turkey Rod Run. This is from the sixth generation of the Mustang, which has been in production since July of 2014 (the first model year was 2015). The engine is a 5.2 liter V8 that produces 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual. This car can do 0-60 mph in about 4 seconds and tops out at about 180 mph.
Today’s car of the day is this Mercedes-AMG GTS that I saw in town yesterday. The Mercedes-AMG GT is a supercar that’s been in production since 2014 (the first model year was 2015). The engine is a 4 liter twin turbo V8 that produces 515 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a 7-speed DCT. This car does 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 193 mph. This car weighs 3,461 pounds since the chassis is an aluminum spaceframe. The starting price of the AMG GTS is $133,395.
