I’ve been going to this auction with my grandparents for 8 years in a row. This year, it was just me and my grandpa because my grandma had important stuff to do. What’s really cool about the hotel we stayed at is that there was a Porsche Cayman GT4 in the parking lot along with a C7 Corvette Z06. The following day is when we went to the auction. I photographed more than 170 vehicles including cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and even a few motorcycles. The first car I photographed was a ’96 Corvette Grand Sport, and it was in the parking lot. The entrance building had cars from Chevy, Ford, and Dodge on display. This is where I got to see the new Corvette ZR1. I got a photo and a video of the car while “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighters (my favorite Foo Fighters song) was being played. I’m really glad that the ZR1 that was on display had the 7-speed manual transmission, which is the perfect transmission for a C7 Corvette. I also got to see the 2018 Chevy Camaro COPO Concept. Another car I got to see was the Dodge Challenger Demon, and they had about 6 at the auction. Two of which were auctioned off. We also worked our way over to the Ford section to see the new 2019 Mustang Bullitt, and the Bullitt they had on display was a prototype. We also saw the new Ford GT for the first time since 2016. A 2019 Ford Ranger was also on display, and it was a preproduction model. We also got to see Craig Jackson’s Bugatti Veyron, which was the only French car at the auction. What was really cool is that they brought a DeLorean DMC-12 to this particular auction for the first time in years. There was even some cars I had never seen before such as a Fiat 500 Topolino, a Fiat 600, and a Dodge Polara. What’s really cool is that a 2000 Mustang SVT Cobra R was auctioned off, and it was number 22 of the 300 built. The ’67 Volkswagen Samba Bus from That 70’s Show was also auctioned off, and someone bought it for $121,000. Another interesting car that they had was a 2009 Mustang Iaccoca 45th Anniversary Edition, and it was number 20 of the 45 built. What’s really interesting about the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V that they had was that it was one of the few with a 6-speed manual transmission. More cars that they had include Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo, a ’95 Corvette ZR1, a ’59 Nash Metropolitan, an ’87 Humvee M998, a 2016 Shelby GT-H, and a ’92 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32. Bentley of Palm Beach also attended and brought a few of their cars including a 2017 Audi R8, a 2017 Acura NSX, a 2017 Bentley Bentayga, a 2017 Ferrari F12berlinetta, and a 2016 Corvette Z06. More vehicles that were auctioned off include a ’49 Harley-Davidson Coca-Cola Motorcycle, a 2007 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Police Bike, a Plymouth Superbird, a ’94 Toyota Supra, an ’86 Nissan Safari Firetruck, a ’63 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, a ’66 Chevy Bel Air, a ’90 Honda NSX, and a ’63 Corvette Stingray. The most unusual vehicle at the auction was a 1913 Harley-Davidson 9E Twin, and someone bought it for $55,000. We also saw more cars including a ’73 Mustang Mach 1, a 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, an ’86 Ferrari Testarossa, and a ’72 Ferrari Dino 246 GT. I also got to see a McLaren 720S for the first time, and I photographed and filmed it. There was also a 2018 Corvette Z06 Carbon 65 Edition, which is a special edition of the Z06 being made to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Corvette and only 650 are being made. One car that was searching for all over the fairgrounds was the 2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package, and only 50 of the 500 LFAs built were the Nurburgring Package. That Lexus ended up selling for $770,000, which is the most amount of money I ever saw a Lexus go for. More cars that were auctioned off include a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, a 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, a 2006 Ford GT, and a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. What really grabbed everyone’s attention was a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo Indy 500 Pace Car. What’s special about it was that Burt Reynolds actually owned it, and I got a picture of him riding in it. Someone ended paying $110,000 for it, and the Smokey and the Bandit theme song was played after it got sold. After that, I also photographed some cars in the parking lot, such as a Rolls-Royce Wraith, a Mercedes-Maybach S 560 4Matic, a Ferrari 488 GTB, and a Tesla Model S. Overall, my favorite car was the 2018 Corvette ZR1. I had a great time at this auction, and I give it a 10 out of 10. Keep up the great work, Barrett-Jackson. Click here to see the pics I took.
