1965 Trabant 601 | 2019 Mecum Auction in Kissimmee

That’s a ’65 Trabant 601 that was at the 2019 Mecum Auction in Kissimmee. The Trabant 601 is a subcompact that was made in what was known as East Germany between 1963 and 1990 (model years between 1964 and 1990), and was East Germany’s answer to the Volkswagen Beetle of West Germany. A total of 2,818,547 were made. The engine is a 0.6 liter straight-twin that produces 30 horsepower. The transmission is a 4-speed manual. The top speed is 62 mph.
